My Advice to Students — Ardel Caneday Has One Word of Advice: “Network!”
(Can't see the video? Watch it here)
Ardel Caneday, NT professor and editor of Four Views on the Historical Adam, has one word of advice for students: network. “Connect with others, mentors, professors and senior scholars who might be able to offer advice, suggestions, and guidance along the way.”
One of Caneday’s academic regrets was not having a mentor, which he says he could have used. Unfortunately, the lack of connections and mentoring is all too common in the academy.
Listen to how Caneday has personally overcome this “downside of academia.” Professors, consider following in his footsteps. Students, do what Caneday didn’t do: Network and find a mentor.
I know doing so made all the difference in my own academic journey!
