Wednesday Giveaway - NIV Application Commentary on Deuteronomy
It has been an exciting few months for the
venerable NIV Application Commentary. First, John Walton’s commentary on Job
was released in August, and now Daniel I. Block’s volume on Deuteronomy is
being added to the series.
The later, of course, is our featured giveaway

Block, who teaches Old Testament at Wheaton,
suggests that the ancient book of Deuteronomy proclaims a very relevant word of
grace and gospel to the church today.
Focusing on the covenantal nature of God’s
relationship with his people, this commentary highlights the unity between the covenant-making
God depicted in Deuteronomy and Jesus Christ who inaugurated a new covenant in
the breaking of the bread.
Block structured his work around the text’s
natural division into a series of sermons, and uses this structure to explain
the theological significance and practical relevance of the final book of the
